GTIE GAP Fund Exploratory Course Selectees, Professor Manabu Ihara and Professor Takashi Nanada, Receive Research Pitch Award at Tokyo Tech Startup Night

Tokyo Institute of Technology’s Innovation Design Organization, Research and Industry Alliances Division, held a joint event with Venture Café Tokyo, “Tokyo Tech Startup Night – Changing the world, university ‘tech’ startups” on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at CIC Tokyo in Toranomon Hills. GTIE GAP Fund Exploratory Course winners took the stage, with Professor Manabu Ihara (Tokyo Institute of Technology) winning the TTGF (Tokyo Tech GAP Fund) award and Professor Takashi Nanada (Tokyo Medical and Dental University) winning the Researcher Pitch Award in the Researcher Pitch section. (Tokyo Medical and Dental University) received the “Researcher Pitch Award” in the Researcher Pitch section, respectively.

The event opened with a declaration of mission “to foster university-launched startups that change the world” by Mr. Tsujimoto, Director General of the Innovation Design Organization, Research and Industry Alliances Division, Tokyo Institute of Technology, who is the representative of the Tokyo Tech GTIE program.

GTIE GAP Fund Exploratory Course adopters Prof. Manabu Ihara (Tokyo Institute of Technology), Prof. Yuriko Gyobu (Tokyo Institute of Technology), Prof. Kenji Suzuki (Tokyo Institute of Technology), Associate Prof. Takafuki Yamamoto (Tokyo Institute of Technology), Prof. Takashi Nanada (Tokyo Medical and Dental University) and Assistant Professor Takuya Nagano (Tokyo Medical and Dental University) spoke.

In addition, 57 students and researchers participated in sessions, and entrepreneurs gave lectures and held discussions. The sessions were all fully booked. Approximately 600 people registered for the event, including online registrations, indicating the high expectations for “tech startups” originating from universities in Japan.
