Waseda University’s W-EDGE Youth Innovator (WEYI) Development Program, one of the GTIE lead institutions, will hold a workshop for high school and university students to foster a mindset to solve social issues by learning entrepreneurship.
If you want to create a business that will have a big social impact in the future, you may not be young enough to do so! If you want to create a business with a big social impact in the future, don’t you think that you are still too young and inexperienced and that you need to take time to study at a university, become a member of society, gain experience and build a network…etc.? Of course it is important to learn from experience. However, we must not overlook the fact that the life experiences you have accumulated from your childhood through your student life itself have great potential.
This is part of the idea of “effectuation,” which is the principle of successful entrepreneurs: “By putting together your preferences, dreams, people you know, and things you know, and then putting them together with the other participants, you will realize that there is an amazing amount of potential within you right here, right now. In this workshop, we will use this concept of “effectuation” to minimize the one-way lectures and have the participants, who will be meeting each other for the first time, introduce themselves to each other in depth and generate ideas for new products and services from these introductions. Through this experience, expand your “potential as a value creator within yourself!
