Atsushi Maki
Main career
Mr. Maki joined the Central Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd. in 1990, and has been involved in research and development of the initial concepts of currently used technologies, such as optical brain function measurement technology (optical topography) and vein authentication, based on research on biometric measurement using light. He has conducted brain function measurements in France and Italy to clarify language acquisition in newborns, and discovered that brain activity in response to the first language (native language) is observed within a few days of birth, using optical topography. In 2010, he started social implementation of intellectual training and education based on the characteristics of brain development and cognitive functions at the New Business Development Division of the same company. He devised and built a business model to increase mental value, and actually industrialized it.
