GTIE (Greater Tokyo Innovation Ecosystem), with support from JST, is targeting graduate students (master’s and doctoral) affiliated with universities participating as core or, is planning to implement an overseas dispatch program(“GTIE Overseas Bootcamp for Graduate Students” (hereinafter referred to as “this program”)).
With a view to the societal implementation of research outcomes in the deep tech field, this program places emphasis on fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and building international professional networks. It is designed as an integrated program, centered on two overseas training sessions, and includes pre-departure training and post-deployment follow-up.
During the pre-departure training, participants will acquire basic entrepreneurial knowledge and evaluate the commercialization potential of their research themes. Furthermore, participants will take the initiative in identifying and selecting host institutions for their overseas research assignments (OD2), thereby strengthening their autonomy and execution capabilities. Following the assignment, we provide opportunities for participants to report on their results and offer mutual feedback to one another, thereby supporting the consolidation of learning and the sustainable development of their networks. Through this series of processes, we aim to cultivate talent capable of taking on the challenges of commercialization and entrepreneurship utilizing deep tech, and the program will run through March 2027.
Students selected for this program will receive support from GTIE for overseas travel expenses, local living expenses, program fees, and other related costs. Participants will engage in business hypothesis validation and pilot development of services and products. By continuing their commercialization activities after the program concludes, they are expected to create university-based startups in the future or participate in their management, business operations, and R&D. We strongly encourage graduate students affiliated with universities participating in GTIE to consider applying for this program.
